Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of strong but vulnerable characters. Born to a well-known playwright's father, and was raised by a single mom, who earned her living as a nurse, she was drawn to theatre when working with her father during the summer then pursuing acting studies, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career shortly after graduating after which she made her television debut the following year. Her appearances have been in a variety of film, TV and stage shows since. Over the course of her career, she won several awards, among them the two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many accolades, she is still a lover of acting and has performed on both screen and stage.
