Thunberg believes that the effects of global warming have caused humanity to be in a situation of crisis. Thunberg uses graphic metaphors to highlight her worries and is often blunt with the political and business elites about their inability to coordinate actions. Thunberg made a decisive move in August of 2018. She sat in a calm way in front of the Swedish Parliament and made an 'School Strike For Climate' sign and walked out on schools. Thunberg believed that this was needed to gain the attention of politicians and convince them to adopt measures to combat global warming. Swedish media reported Thunbergs decision and her actions spread. In the weeks that followed many students across the globe joined Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movements. Students skipped Friday classes to protest global warming. Climate activists from all over the globe organized the first Global Strike for Climate in 2019. The event was hugely successful. There were more than 1.6 million people from over 125 countries participated.
